click on change the columns....
you will see boxes with at least one column...you can add
as many as you want here...and name them....
find the one where you want members to put their items..

and click on the column "format" you will get a line that says
"display ___rows of text when editing.... I usually put at least 20 here.
more if for like recipes,,,etc. now click on save format.
After you have every thing set click on save format..
Now click on change the settings.
and under the heading "details view"..

click on show details as default, put 25 in the #of items to show....
now click on customize the details view..
You will see a screen just like the message board or page editor
Add background and text the way you want each post to look.
Iif you are using named columns or posted by etc..
add placeholders for these including them
in your background and save.
Now click on default sort order.. put a check mark here
and continue down the page setting things the way you
want them and then save..
This will take you back to the page where it says Add item....
click on add... You won't see the background yet..
but you should be in a edit board again..
add a banner or whatever... and click add.... when your new list
comes up it will have the background and previous text with it..

Members won't see the background when they start adding ---- only after they are finished...so you might post a message first thing not to add their own backgrounds.

You can also spruce up preexisting lists that you already have started on your site by simply going into the change details...and add your background...it will add it to all existing items!!!
