| President's Message By Dick Moran SUMMER 2008 Friends, Aa far as I can tell this is my 14th President's Message. I hope that I have provided you with some insights as to what is happening in the Society, our future plans, and a special 'thank you' to those who work so hard behind the scenes. Cheryl Erickson has just completed research on identifying 97 oral interviews. There are another hand full that have not yet been transcribed. Cheryl also has a list of 30 more folks to be interviewed. We are trying to expand to video taping the next group. There are several new exciting exhibits in the museum. Our Exhibit Curator, Marilyn Fernald, has designed a wonderful mining exhibit. It is really worth your time and visit this exhibit and wander through the exhibit hall. Thanks to Bruce Arnett for his hard work in assisting. Each of the museum's exhibits are photographed and filed for future reference. Les Snodgrass has linked our computers together in a networking program that allows multi workers to enter data. Prior to the network, data had to be entered by one worker at a time. Now all three computers can be used at once. It is good to see Marilyn Collier walking around without her walker. Her hip is on the mend and we all wish her continued 'good health.' I encourage everyone to check out the Society's web site. Al Gartner and Cindy Widdall do a tremendous job updating the site monthly. 'Kudos' to Al and Marion Gartner for developing a reference manual that contains all articles that have been printed in the Journal. This will be a tremendous reference source in searching titles, subjects, authors and publication dates. As I finish my message this morning, I share with you that in 21 days I will be heading north in my RV for three months. I will be a 'volunteer campground host' at two Washington State Parks, and in between will visit my two sons and their families in Walla Walla, Washington and Boise, Idaho. Have a wonderful summer. Talk to you again in the fall. |
