CIRCLE CASTING
THE BASICS
There are many versions of circle casting written and practiced. Some are very rigidly structured and some are just done in the mind. Many fit between those two extremes. Circle Casting is the necessary foundation to any and all rituals. It serves as the sacred space of power and protection. I have written this with the novice in mind so the formalities have been skipped for just that reason. In my teaching experiences I have found many to be confused on the proceedure and the reasons why they are performed. With this in mind I have written a basic outline of circle casting. This is in the traditional form focusing on the basic steps.
I have elaborated on sectors, showing the “reason and rhyme” of the actions and oratories that are being performed to give a better understanding of the inner workings of it all. I have not put in the various protocols that are in group circles or in structured rituals, feeling that the understandings of the basics will lead to furthering your expertise. I have not elaborated on verbage heavily, allowing "space" to encourage your own creations of style and wording.Hopefully this will aid you in your own creations. Below you will find some helpful pictures you can use as guides for use in the preparation for and using in the casting. I have also offered links to various things and some deffinitions for your better understanding.

EAST QUARTER = AIR = YELLOW
NOTICE: To draw INVOKING for the element AIR, you start from the EAST, to draw BANISHING you start in reverse from the WEST
SOUTH QUARTER = FIRE = RED
NOTICE: To draw INVOKING for the element FIRE you start from the NORTH RIGHT, to draw BANISHING you start from the SOUTH RIGHT
NORTH QUARTER = EARTH = GREEN
NOTICE: To draw INVOKING for the element EARTH you start from the NORTH LEFT, to draw BANISHING you start from the SOUTH LEFT
WEST QUARTER = WATER = BLUE
NOTICE: To draw INVOKING for the element WATER, you start from the WEST, to draw BANISHING you start in reverse from the EAST

Below are some Altars to give you an idea how they are to basically look. Again this is a basic concept. You may add or take away anything that you would like to. During Sabbats flowers or other adornations are a welcoming gift to the Goddess/Gods.
