My name is Lo. I am the mother of a 17 year old non-verbal girl who has Autism, and a 18 year old boy with ADD. I'm also a stepmother to four (33-31-29-27) which are my late husband's children, and we all live in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
Inspired by my youngest daughter Maggie (also the screen-name I use in this group), I founded AUTISM CHAT AND SHARE on March 14th 2001 to have a place to exchange with other parents/teachers/care givers and other people with Autism, about any related matter to Autism to further understand and educate myself and in return give to others what I have learned. Since then, this site has grown into a beautiful loving and supportive group. Although we all experience our relation with Autism in different ways, we all have this in common... Love, courage, friendship and strength to care, chat and share about our Special Angels. I now have 7 other beautiful and caring ladies helping me manage the group, Please meet them... | | Tanya I am the very proud parent of a 9 year old boy named Jordan who was diagnosed with PDD/Autism at 3 years. I am a 40 year old single parent and Jordan is my only child. I have faced many challenges with Jordan as I'm sure we all have, but have found that the experience has made me a better woman and mom, as well as given me a whole new perspective. I am very open to Autism discussion and hope to be a strong support sytem for this group. Since joining in January 2003, I have found this group to be very supportive, and a great site for resources, I hope you find the same. I am a mom to Bobby who is 6 years old, and was diagnosed as Autistic when he was 2. He is a wonderful little boy and always happy and singing. I have been told that he is high functioning Asperger's. None the less, I have worked very hard with him and getting all the intervention I can. He is doing very well!! I am also Frank's mom. Frank is 19-years old and currently serving in the Armed Forces in Kuwait. I have found this place to be my haven. As we all know our children have special needs and all the moms (and dads) here are very supportive. We exchange ideas and experiences. What more can you ask for? These lovely ladies (& gents) are a great team, and I am proud to be a part of it. WE ARE A FAMILY!! | | Amanda I am a 29 year old Mother to Dexter (8) and Isaiah (5). Dexter and Isaiah both got diagnosed with autism at age 3. Looking back it was one of the hardest times in my life, but since then I have learned to accept the things I can not change ! Dexter and Isaiah are the greatest blessing in my life. I am thankful God choose me to be their mother. I also have a wonderful husband (Rick) who has helped me so much. I am truely blessed ! My son Adam is my angel who was diagnosed with Autism at the age of 2. He is non verbal and pretty severe on the spectrum. I joined this group to find out more info about autism and have a support group that wouldn't judge me as being a bad parent because my child didn't do everything "thier children did". This group has been a lifesaver for me and a shoulder to cry on and also one of the most uplifting experiences I have ever had. Since I've joined this group I feel in control of the situation, I've learned so much from other parents dealing with similar situations, but most of all I feel blessed to of met so many wonderful, supportive ,genuine caring people. Corey was diagnosed with autism at age 3, and I joined this group shortly after. I felt so alone before joining this group, and now feel as if I have a whole new family.
