Product Name MelaFix
Manufacturer Aquarium Pharmaceuticals, Inc.
Web Site http://www.aquariumpharm.com
Reviewer Angie
Date Reviewed 29 August 2002

MelaFix is an all natural antibacterial for both freshwater and saltwater disease. It contains melaleuca a tea tree extract that has been used as a herbal remedy for healing wounds and burns for years. In the aquarium, MelaFix is reported to not harm biofiltration or invertebrates.

In my opinion, this is one product that really really works. I've seen dramatic improvement within a weeks time when experimenting with this product years ago on a donated fish with a bad case of fin rot, not only did the fish recover he thrived. I must note that this fish received nothing other than melafix and excellent water quality.

One shortcoming of MelaFix is that is does not get rid of parasites, yet it will help the fish recover after a bout with some, the odor of the product is strong; a sort of minty medicinal odor that some may find offensive. When using MelaFix it is normal to have an oily-looking foam appear on the water's surface, moreso if there's a lot of surface agitation, this will dissipate shortly.
