Product Name AquaClear "Mini" (A-595)
Manufacturer Hagen
Web Site http://www.hagen.com
Reviewer Christina
Date Reviewed 13 September 2002

This product is a hang on tank filter designed for tanks 20g and under.
Here are the spec's taken directly from their website

- Maximum Output: 378 L per hour
- Maximum Output: 100 U.S. gal per hour
- Full Flow Control: 124 L per hour
- Full Flow Control: 33 U.S. gal per hour
- Power Consumption: 6 W
- Maximum Aquarium Capacity: 75 L
- Maximum Aquarium Capacity: 20 U.S. gal
- AquaClear is backed by a two year warranty
- Flow Control: Simply shift the patented "Flow Adjustment Control" at the intake siphon. When the "Flow Adjustment Control" is at its greatest blockage, AquaClear's input and exhaust volumes are approximately a third of its maximum capacity.

It is a good filter, small, yet enough room for 3 of their sized media's.(I use carbon and 2 sponges)

It's main drawback is the ability to restart after power loss. It cannot, and in turn that burns the motor out. It is a very tempermental filter in that everything has to be just right (leveled, intake siphon needs proper positioning, etc) for it to start. Even during regular maintenence including cleaning it is quite picky.

It is cheap, as is the media for it.

Out of a possible 10, I give this filter a 5. Low because so easily can the motor burn out.
