| I have now added the much awaited Gods pages. I know the Goddesses pages have been around for quite some time, but while we witches may honour the Goddess, there are those of us who honour the Gods too. For this reason and the knowledge that we are all searching for our own ways along the path that has chosen us and we have in turn chosen, I felt offering a list of all the dieties that I could find necessary for allowing us to find the dieties that work with our workings. There is no "right" or "wrong" Goddess or God. There are many facets that may or may not touch each of us. I will be adding more to the Dieties extension. As I have previously stated, this is a knowledge base extension. There is no manditory joining of this group, but if you feel you want to, please do so, as there may be some input you would like to share that might benefit the rest of us... In closing, I will share the introduction to the compilation of Gods from "The Witches' God" by Janet and Stewart Farrar... Gods of the World As with Part III of The Witches' Goddess, this is a 'selectively comprehensive' list of the gods of the various cultures of the world, both past and present. The remarks we made in that book on the nature and use of goddess-forms apply equally well to god-forms. Here, too, our purpose is threefold: to fill out our picture of the overall nature of the God; to provide material for finding the exact aspect one wishes to work with; and to offer a useful work of reference. Again, we have been flexible in our interpretation of the word 'god'. Our list includes the Adams (first men) of many cultures, some semi-deified culture heroes, and some on the borderline between legendary men and unquestioned gods. In some entries there is a sentence beginning '777: ...'. These are the Tarot and other correspondences given in Aleister Crowley's 777 for the god concerned. With the gods who are equatable to Sephiroth on the Cabalistic tree of Life (Chokmah, Chesed, Geburah, Tiphareth, Hod, Yesod), the correspondences given are those in Dion Fortune's The Mystical Qabalah. A name in CAPITALS in the body of an entry means that he has his own entry in his alphabetical place. We would welcome any additions or corrections which readers can suggest for future editions. That being said, I have hyper-linked those etries to the pages where the corresponding God entry may be found. If anyone has a suggestion about the pages, background art, or lack thereof, let me know. Many Magicks... Aradia ©1999 - 2008 - Aradias~Attic |
