The following is an excerpt from....... "The Grimoire of Lady Sheba" .......published by Llewellyn, originally in 1972, however, I have purchased the newest copy published in 2001, as Llewellyn's Centinnial Edition. Chapter Four deals with the language used by witches.......
The Language
In the beginning the Wicca had their own language. We still have our own ancient Runic alphabet, but very little remains of our old language.
During the times of persecution, the Wiccan people were afraid to speak their true language, therefore it became a lost tongue.
The Runic alphabet is ours; don't let any school teacher ever make you believe otherwise. During the course of your school years you will hear much speculation from scholars and theologians about the Runes. HEED THEM NOT. It always has been and always will be the magickal, sacred alphabet of the witches.
I urge you to learn to write the Runes. It is good to keep your Book of Shadows in our ancient Holy Script.
...............................................Lady Sheba

The above are the two versions of the Runic alphabet that Lady Sheba refers to.
