Jamie Bell  JAMIE BELL (Billy makes his professional debut in
the leading role of Billy in Billy Elliot. Jamie
is a hot young newcomer whose own story ironically
parallels that of his character. Jamie began his
dancing career at the age of six and was discovered
after a search of over 2,000 children. Now, at the
age of 14, he has built a reputation as a talent
to watch - but only outside his hometown of
Billingham, because like his character Billy,
he has successfully hidden his dancing talents
from all his classmates
The British film has garnered three nominations at
this year's European Film of the Year Awards,
including Best Film, Best Actor (Jamie Bell) and
Best Actress (Julie Walters).
The praise for Jamie's performance in Bily Elliot
continue to pour in from all corners.
Jamie is up for a Young Artist Award as best young
actor in a foreign film for Billy Elliot which is
nominated as best family Foreign film.
Back in February he won BAFTA AWARD for performance
by an actor in a leading role.
He was nominated by the SAG (Screen Actors Guild)
for outstanding performance by a male actor in a leading role.
As expected Jamie took home the Young Artist Award for his role in Billy Elliot. The film won for Best Internationa Family Film.
