First of all, I am not an expert. I am a die-hard Rose lover. I feel Roses are the perfect plants; they come in a wide range of colors, sizes, shapes and fragrances. My mission in life is to reintroduce the world to antique Roses. It is a huge mistake to scrap the past in favor of what is new. We don't have to be choose one over the other. Antique Roses offer some of the most spectacular displays every year along with some of the most easily managed plants known to man. If you would grow Tulips, flowering Cherries, Iris, Lilac or any other once blooming plant then you could put that same space to work with Antique Roses. You will not only fill your yard with beauty but also preserve a little bit of history. These wonderful shrubs are truly living relics of days gone by.

For years I have spent countless hours researching this information. I have read hundreds of books, combed every Web site, and sifted every magazine on the subject of roses; retrieving rose breeding information for my own use. I Had slips of paper, notes, pictures and article cut outs all over my house. I decided to put all this information in one place and share it with others. I hope this community offers some good information and tools to help all those who enjoy collecting and breeding roses.

I also collect and breed roses, mostly Moss, I would say I have one of the largest (counting the ones I have bred), if not the largest assembly of moss roses in the world; including repeat and once blooming, single, double, semi-double, light mossing & heavy mossed. The colors include shades of pink, white, yellow & purple. I also have pink and purple spotted in various shades.

I, as the person that I am, will try to post the information without the romanticizing that I see a lot in rose related writings. I have to laugh to myself when I read an article describing a rose being "stingy" or "lazy" I get a mental picture of a rose holding its little sack of pollen behind it's back in defiance. I love roses as much as the next person but roses are plants and just like any other plant are incapable of being stingy, lazy or in any way expressing will of their own so, even though it is tempting, I will try not to Humanize or use misleading terminology.

I will do my best to make this Community stuff not fluff. For this community to be it's best everyone's input is not only respected but also needed. If anything you read in this community confuses you or you feel is incorrect please feel free to drop me a line and we can discuss the issue. It is also my hope that as this community grows, we can have regular chats and group fact finding missions.
