| Migration of MSN Adult Groups As part of CMA's (Community Managers Association) commitment to help the membership, this information is vital to letting everyone aware of what is going on and how it affects a lot of us. As most of you aware, MSN will soon be discontinuing support for MSN Adult Groups. If you choose not to transfer your group to WG, your group will not be accessible on or after March 31, 2006. Because CMA (Community Managers Association) is rated as General (for all ages) we cannot name or have active links to web sites that contain any adult material, so please use the initials of WG for referring to the new location for adult groups for those managers who choose to move them. This separation of MSN Adult rated groups from General and Mature rated groups will put a lot of changes into MSN Groups. Any group with adult content is sure to be deleted without notice as it will be in direct conflict of MSN group code of conduct and terms of use, which appear to have not been changed to show the changes. The group help pane located on the right side of each page just above your nickname will also require changes eventually. In the meantime, the management and members of CMA will assist you and endeavour to help you with your questions to the best of our ability. It is not that we don't care about you or your groups, but those with questions related to WG and their adult groups will not find the answers here. We are not set up to assist you with those matters. Thank you: Smokey© Updated: March 30, 2006 Updates may be added to this page as they become current. | Your Action is Required Good news! If you choose not to transfer your group to WG and take advantage of the rich new features, your group will not be accessible on or after March 7, 2006. | | | MSN Groups has stated that Mature Groups will not be shut down nor transferred. There has been lots of confusion because the place where Adult groups were migrated to (aka WG) has both a mature and adult section. Of course there has also been confusion on the definitions of adult, mature and general rated groups. | | The "Mature" rating is meant for sites that do not fit the requirements for an "Adult" rating but are not topic-appropriate for children. Sites focused on substance abuse recovery, sexual abuse or rape recovery, certain political sites, and adult humor sites all would qualify as "mature." MSN Groups containing any provocative nudity, expletives, profanities, hate speech, sexual acts, sex crimes, violence or death to humans or animals. Any sexually explicit materials, including cartoons or photographs, must be rated as "Adult" and not as "Mature". | | With Adult groups now gone from MSN Groups that would imply that " Any provocative nudity, expletives, profanities, hate speech, sexual acts, sex crimes, violence or death to humans or animals. Any sexually explicit materials, including cartoons or photographs, must not be allowed in MSN Groups. " | | Part of the original "more information section " from the What's New page for adult groups regarding the migration. This is where the May 8th 2006 date first appeared. The link cannot be provided as it contains adult material. | MSN Groups Update What’s Happening to MSN Adult Groups? MSN Groups that have been categorised as "Adult" will no longer be hosted by MSN after May 8th 2006. A new service with improved features and content will be offered to users by a third party service, WG Please note that as part of this transition, you will not be able to: - Create a new MSN Adult Group or reclassify an existing MSN Group as “Adult”.
- Change the content or comment on MSN Adult Groups.
- Access Adult Groups from MSN after May 8th 2006.
| Managers and members of MSN Groups categorised as “Adult” should upgrade to this new service to continue to enjoy a group's experience. All MSN Groups categorised as “Adult” that have not transitioned to the new service will be deleted on May 8th 2006. | | This does not affect any MSN Groups that are not categorised as Adult. Please note that from May 8th 2006, MSN Groups will prohibit users from uploading, posting, transmitting, transferring, disseminating, distributing or facilitating the distribution of any content that expresses pornography. Groups in violation will be deleted. | | From an MSN staffer's blog: WG and MSN Adult Groups "Last week, we launched the first wave of migrations for MSN Groups listed under the adult category in Australia. Managers and Members of MSN Groups listed as adult are given the opportunity to migrate their groups to a third party provider which caters to adult and mature communities. This will be rolled out globally over the next few weeks as we eventually delete the adult category from our MSN Groups listings in early May 2006. The process of selecting a partner and planning for this project started almost 19 months ago - we're not usually that slow, but it shows the level of complexity we had to grapple with on this project and our seriousness about doing it right..."
