This poem was written by a fellow BC survivor...A lovely lady from FITS...The BC support group that has been there for me since the start of this long journey.

A Path of Hope

She awoke upon the path of shadows,
senses filled with the presence
of lingering fear and decaying dreams.

Gentle voices beckon her to forge ahead,
with promises of brighter clearings
and healing streams.

In the darkness she felt naked, alone,
vulnerable to the stinging nettles of life
with no place to take cover.

Courage never wavered; she carried
a satchel of fear in one hand, but
a basket of hope in the other.

The rising mist revealed a meadow
where footprints from those who
went before her guide the way.

Like good friends, parades of flowers
urge her on; shy bluebells nod their respect,
and forget-me-nots bow to pray.

Bright daisies wave madly
as she passes by, ready to break any
fall and keep her moving in the right direction.

A grand and beautiful lake of hope
now lies at her feet and
she bends down to see her own reflection.
