This series is the very best fantasy world outside of Tolkein's Middle Earth! And you just ~have~ to respect Raistlin...that boy's got style! The DragonLance books are written by a variety of writers, but for the truest Krynn experience I advise you to pay the most attention to the books written by the creators of the series, Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman. Well, what are you waiting for?! Go get your hoopak and start adventuring down the dusty roads of Krynn today.

This book is simply amazing. It centers around the planet Arrakis, also known as Dune. It is a desert planet that has no natural water of its own, except what's locked in glaciers. The planet is the only source of the spice melange, an essence that makes you stronger, but it is extremely addictive. It will add years to your life, but will kill you if you cease taking it. Fatal addiction, I say. And you thought cigarettes were bad. A feud between House Harkonnen and House Atreides adds to the action in the story. Eventually, The only Atreides heir, Paul, learns to master the ways of his mother, a Bene Gesserit, and can manipulate people by using the Voice. The Voice allows a person to literally force another to do something. Oh yeah! The spice is harvested from Arrakis by these giant machines, called Harvester Factories, or Harvesters for short. But beneath the sands lurks giant sandworms, which can swallow the massive harvesters with ease. They can be as big as a mile long too. And lastly, the desert is inhabitated by the Fremen, a desert race that can ride the sandworms. The survive by harvesting the water from dead bodies, as well as by using a stillsuit, which recycles their perspiration and bodily excretions (yuk). But above all, Dune is a great book, and I would recommend it to all who like Sci-Fi. It is one of the best books ever!
