THE PARK
-Originally opened as Lake Park on 15 July 1886 about 3 miles southwest of where Lagoon is now.
-Lagoon opened at its current location on 12 July 1896.

-The Roller Coaster is the 8th oldest coaster still operating in the US.
 
-In 1984, Colossus Fire Dragon was chosen as one of the Top 10 coasters in the country by People Magazine.
 
-Nolan Bushnell, the inventor of Pong, the first video game, founder of Atari & Chuck E. Cheese restaurants was once the Manager of the Games Department at Lagoon.
 
-The current president of the IAAPA, J. Clark Robinson, is a former employee of Lagoon. The following is from the IAAPA website: "Robinson was eight years old when he embarked on his career in the amusement park industry at Lagoon in Farmington, Utah. Robinson learned the park business from the ground up, eventually serving as the park's Controller and finally General Manager from 1975 to 1998."
 
-Boyd F. Jensen, Jr., also from Lagoon was the IAAPA president in 1990.
 
-The Beach Boys sing about Lagoon in a song called, 'Salt Lake City' from their 1965 album, 'Summer Days (And Summer Nights!!)'. Go to the Audio/Video Room to hear a clip!
 
-Several world famous performers & musicians have performed at Lagoon. They include: Artie Shaw, Benny Goodman, Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Glenn Miller Orchestra, Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, Johnny Mathis, Frankie Avalon, The Three Stooges, Bill Haley & The Comets, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, Janis Joplin, The Rolling Stones, The Doors, and The Beach Boys.
 
-Scenes from a 2001 Disney Channel movie, Luck Of The Irish, were filmed at Lagoon.
 
-About 20% of Lagoon's guests are from outside the state of Utah.
 
-At the 2003 Davis County Fair, a poll was held by the Davis County Clerk/Auditor's Office. Of 651 school-age children, 40.81% chose Lagoon as their favorite summer activity. It was second only to swimming (49.76%), which can also be enjoyed at Lagoon. The remaining 9.43% chose "Nintendo".
