HISTORY & INFO
This engine has an unclear history. One source says it was first installed on the Pioneer Village R.R. Another source says it was added a few years after 1975. It currently operates as the Wild Kingdom Train.
Merriweather was repainted and restored in 2004 and early 2005. A visitor to the site, had this to say about the previous (and very unique) pink and blue color scheme of Merriweather:

"Merriweather's original paint scheme was red and creme. It was changed to it's current pastel scheme, blue, white, and pink, in the late 1980s. Lagoon's Director of the Art, Sign, & Paint Deptartment, at the time, chose the current color scheme. She researched period color schemes, of buildings, and found pastels were often used in the early 1900s. She neglected to research period train color schemes, and that is the reason for the ONLY pastel colored train in the world."
