FIREHOUSE SIRENS What is the purpose of these big and loud sirens that sit atop of a fire station or in remote locations of a city ? Well here is the answer. They serve as an outdoor warning devices , they alert the city of an emergency , whether its for the fire department , or if there is a severe storm along with tornadoes . When  modern day technology fails and I am referring to pagers . The big loud siren will serve its purpose . They will alert the emergency services of a situation that is happening and need immediate attention. Just about every city has them , alot of cities have taken them down or they still sit on their locations but have been turned off. In my opinion all cities who have turned them off or taken them down , should get them back up and going. I am not the only one with this opinion. There are several people everywhere that feel the same way . Some fire stations also have a different type of siren , it is a horn better known as a Diaphone. The diaphones sound off before the mechanical siren giving off the signal for an emergency. There has been complaints from citizens that those sirens are too loud . Well enough of the complaining , those citizens should be greatful for the sirens warning them of an emergency. Should there be a severe storm in a given city and the sirens go off , take shelter . For those who complain about them answer these questions. What would you do if your house was on fire and the pagers for fire and rescue personnel fail ? How would they know about your emergency ?
