Cedar Pocket Ranch
To let you know a little about the ranch. We started in 2003 making "Lower Winter Camp" as it has been known since Grandpa Bob started The Cedar Ridge Ranch a home. All that was here were some corrals and memories. We first made the million dollar road and set up a house. Next came a shop and due to a blow over we salavaged to make a barn. Things slowly keep coming together and it's really feeling like home. Kelly keeps reminding me that Rome was not built in a day-- but I have that Swanke blood in my veins ya know. We have managed to grow our herd to a comfortable 200 head. Most of which have the genetics of Dad's herd. The cows we have are angus/bronveigh cross. We use Gelbveigh bulls to produce bigger frame, good milking and most of all great disposition cattle. As you can tell by the pictures, all our cattle and bulls are bucket broke, which makes jobs easier for Colton and I. I guess you could say the cattle are very sentimental and are produced for quality.
We are part of the Diamond S Haying. Kevin and us have a little over five thousand acres of hay land. It varies from grass, alfalfa, grass/alfalfa mix to grain hay. We produce enough for both the ranches plus some to market. Which brings KT Trucking into the picture. Kelly and I started an agricultural trucking business in 2000. It has grown and is a major income for our family. Kelly's hauling consists of hay, cattle, liquid feed and his favorite liquid fertilizer. He mostly keeps the big wheels turning year round. He is home usually during the heavy part of calving and farming. He also manages to be around for some of the haying. With all those irons in the fire we manage to stay out of trouble and most of all happy.
