You will be moving more towards identifying your previous smoking habits and learning what your triggers are. And most importantly starting to retrain that part of your addicted brain with postive ex-smoking education and self-talk that you are learning here. Also keep in mind that everyone's Quit withdrawls are different, some are easier than others so please stop scaring yourself because you can do this just as we have. GREEN CLUB 1 MONTH QUIT We relate the colour of Green to new growth which needs to mature and its colour deepen and change. As such Green represents a need for maturing and more learning before we realize more benefits of our new no smoking life. By one month physical withdrawal is well behind us and the entire journey remaining is psychological, mind over matter, as we focus our energy on reconditioning the habits and triggers of our addicted brain and dependence upon tobacco. We will now also be learning how to deal with our emotions head on without the distraction of our addiction, and getting more in tune with ourselves and what we are feeling. PURPLE CLUB 2 MONTHS QUIT We celebrate our second month with Purple, the colour of power and knowledge as what you have learned about your addiction and how to handle it is really coming into focus for you now. It is the continuing of constant and gradual reconditioning where we encounter time, places, emotions or events, urges, triggers and break their link to years of habit memories that caused an urge and caused us to reach for tobacco in any form to appease our nicotine addiction and get a fix. The process is gradual and the time is necessary to recondition our triggers, climb out of a deep smoker's rut and begin living again without smoking and life feeling normal. It is "our" mind and we each are gradually taking back control. For some this period of mental healing is quicker than for others but for almost all, the magic should start happening by at least day 90, when you claim your Bronze Club status. BRONZE CLUB 3 MONTHS QUIT Going Bronze symbolizes that you've taken your initial desire, determination and motivation and added to it understanding and acknowledgment of your addiction and the education and coping skills learned to get you to a point in time where all your hard work has started paying tremendous comfort dividends. The number of days of 100% comfort (with ZERO smoking or quitting related anxieties), will only continue to grow until all we'll ever experience again are passing thoughts here or there, weeks, months or even years apart. The beauty of these infrequent passing thoughts is that none of them ever hurt us, they don't generate lots of anxiety, and, like any other normal thought, we each have 100% control of when they leave our mind. SILVER CLUB 6 MONTHS QUIT Bronze, Silver and Gold, the precious metals that have traditionally been given to award victory and excellence are chosen with the same intent. It is time and the traditional medal sequence that causes us to pause and honor those who've learned to enjoy the blessing of their new smoke free life. Silver is a time to reflect upon how far we've come. It also serves as a way to bring members home for reflection, and an opportunity to revitalize their motivation. Many are so comfortable with their new lives that some run the risk of beginning to take their freedom from nicotine addiction for granted. GOLD CLUB 1 YEAR QUIT Arrival at Gold is that point in time where each stops counting our glory in months. It is that special day that will forever mark the calendar transition since our healing commenced. Our quit counter is probably no where to be found but the math today is very simple - ONE ! On this wonderful day we again return home to share our glory with jealous yet fond and admiring younger Quit Brothers and Sisters, all who someday wish to experience similar moments. PLATINUM CLUB 2 YEARS QUIT As soon as we enter the Gold Club we start counting a Year and more and the months fly by even faster. Life without smoking is becoming increasingly normal as it was before we smoked and we now function daily without thinking about smoking. Although an Ex-smoker at Gold on the journey to Platinum the thoughts of Non-Smoker have or are becoming a way of life and your chances for staying Quit for Life have skyrocketed. There are less Accolades for older Quitters on the Boards, but they are forever appreciated for keeping their Quits and coming back to share their continued success with us. 2 YEARS QUIT..AWESOME.....!!!! 4 YEARS QUIT An extraordinary moment in your quit when you truly feel that you have won your battle over nicotine addiction and have quit smoking for life! Living without smoking IS your life now and you don't give cigarettes a second thought anymore! Still one must always remember the cardinal rule - Never take another puff! A pillar of strength, determination, courage and inspiration, you have made your way to the most prestigious of all clubs. The Quit For Life Club. Congratulations! |
