Ignatius Donnelly
Ignatius Donnelly was born in Philadelphia on November 3, 1831. He was educated in Philadelphia public school, studied law, and was admitted to the bar in Philadelphia in 1852. He commenced practice in Philadelphia but moved to Minnesota in 1857. Two years later he was elected lieutenant governor (1860-1863). He was then elected to Congress U.S. Congressman (1863-1869), and then a member of the Minnesota Legislature (1874-78, 1887, 1891-93, and 1897). He died in Minneapolis, Minnesota on January 1, 1901; interment in Calvary Cemetery, St. Paul, Minnesota.
