Ladybugs are small oval-shaped insects. Their topside is round and shiny, while the underside is flat. Ladybugs are commonly known to be red with black spots, but they can also be found as orange with black spots or black with red spots.

There are over 4,000 different types of ladybugs in the world. And almost 400 different ladybug species live in North America. The colour, pattern of markings, and the number of spots on a ladybug will help you identify what type of ladybug it is.
