| ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Arwen's Costumes in The Lord of the Rings - The Fellowship of the Ring were definately impressive, and gave audiences a sense of awe when we first saw LotR at the cinemas. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ :: The 'Angel' Dress :: This dress is seen when Arwen first appears in the movie, astride on a white horse (Asfaloth), with an angelic light surrounding her. However, although hard to see, Arwen actually wears two different dresses in the sequence. She wears a cloak and dress when still riding, but as she starts to walk towards Frodo, we can see the 'Angel' dress. This is because it is more a vision that Arwen appears to Frodo in, but she changes back to her riding outfit (aka. the white cloak and dress while in ethereal light).
The 'Angel' dress is made of two separate dresses, worn together to get the overall look. The underdress is made of a silver-metallic silk, which is then pleated/gathered to get a 'flowy' look. The neckline is also scooped, and therefore unseen when the outerdress is worn. The outerdress is a long scooped neck dress, with quite a deep plunge, but maybe not as wide as some of Arwen's other gowns. It uses a silver-metalic knit material, with a 2-3 inch trim (decorated with glittery jewels/embroidering). The sleeves are broad, and decend to below knee level with a cut to show the underdress' sleeves. The back of the Angel dress is quite simple, with a deep split down the middle, as it is on the front - to show the underdress' material for a layered look. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ :: The Riding Outfit ('Chase' Outfit) :: Arwen's riding outfit is the most complicated and detailed (believe it or not) out of her entire wardrobe. Why? Because although we hardly pay attention to it when she's a blur across the screen while out-riding the Nazgul, we don't get to see much of the entire outfit, back or front. This outfit is designed to be more 'human', and not 'elven'. It is made from a grey suede material, with a silver ornate buckle Unfinished - Please Be Paitent |
