History of Nintendo.
Nintendo has had a long and productive history, starting out in 1869 in Japan as a trading card company.
In the 1950's it devoted itself to making technological products, and in 1981 entering the video game market with the smash-hit Donkey Kong (Arcade) and 1984, after the big video game crash, released the Famicom (FAMIly COMputer) which became an overnight success, and the Famicom, now under the name NES (Nintendo Entertainment System) hit american shores in mid-1985, and after that many other consoles have been released by Nintendo (and other companies) but none has been as succesful as the portable system hailed by many as the BEST of all-time. The Nintendo Game Boy.
The GB has sold over 100,000,000 units worldwide in it's 12 year history, and now Nintendo has breathed new life into the system with the Game Boy Advance. Another incredibly succesful console that Nintendo has released was the Super Famicom, or, as it's known here in North and South America, the Super Nintendo or, SNES.
The least succesful console in Nintendo history (next to the Virtual Boy) has been the Nintendo 64 chalk that one up to increased competition with the Sega Saturn, Sony Playstation (which tore up the N64) and later the Sega Dreamcast. But Nintendo looks ahead to the future with it's next-gen offering: The Nintendo Gamecube. Here's a rundown of every Nintendo console:
