The Ahora Covenant Inscription
Found in present day Armenia,in the Arrarat Mountains. It has been dated to about 3,000 B.C.
The translation is:
GOD'S SACRIFICIAL COVENANT OF THE SKY-BRIGHT BOW (RAINBOW),
GO FORTH, PROCREATE, AND BE FRUITFUL.
The figure to the left of the word-gram for OX is probably mountains,
and it denotes a wild Ox. In later proto-Sumerian
this figure would be placed inside the triangular word-gram for Ox.
It appears that the word-gram for SHEEP is associated with a
figure which denotes the divine acceptance of the sacrifice.
The pictograms or word-grams which denote deity, ox, penis for man,
vulva for woman, foot for the verb to go, bow, and daybreak-brightness,
though they may undergo stylization changes over time, are standard
proto-Sumerian pictograms. The Ahora Covenant Inscription was first published in the Field Notes Section of Research & Exploration, A Scholarly Publication of the National Geographic Society, Autumn Issue, 1994.
