| The SBT Welfare is an organisation set up with a bequest to help needy Staffords in time of emergency. In certain circumstances when a Stafford is involved in a road traffic accident (for example) the Vet can apply via a Rescue group to the Welfare for assistance with the fees. If a Staffordshire Bull Terrier Rescue has a large vet's bill to pay then the SBT Welfare may be able to help out financially. As the Welfare is a registered charity, donations and money held by the Welfare must be made to work. There are approximately a dozen or so SBT Rescue organisations in the UK, of which eight are affiliated to the SBT Welfare. These are :- -
1. Lincolnshire Staffy Rescue Tel: 01775 720156 -
2. South Eastern Stafford Rescue Tel: 01227 471647 -
3. Staffordshire Bull Terrier Rescue (North West) Tel: 01204 573942 -
4. Hampshire Stafford Rescue Tel: 01252 658639 -
5. Leicester Stafford Rescue Tel: 01664 840570 -
6. Scottish Staffordshire Bull Terrier Rescue Tel: 01620 850298 -
7. East & West Sussex SBT Rescue Tel: 01273 418081 -
8. North Eastern SBT Rescue Tel: 01388 608763 If a rescue wishes to join the Welfare group they must satisfy Welfare requirements amongst which are:- Open a bank account in your Rescue's Name Run it successfully for at least a year Be proposed and seconded by an existing Rescue Publish and submit yearly accounts to SBT Welfare. The SBT Welfare has a constitution, stringent rules and a code of practice, which are strictly enforced. These rules apply to all affiliated Rescues so that Welfare can and does keep an eye on their activities. Anyone who would like to make a donation and wants to know how or where the money will be used can apply to the secretary. I have been assured that the secretary will be only too happy to furnish them with details. The SBT Welfare only deals with Staffordshire Bull Terriers (rescues/rehomes). This is in their Constitution and as such people donating to the SBT Welfare and their affiliated Rescues can be assured that their money has to be used to rescue and aid Staffordshire Bull Terriers and nothing else. The SBT Welfare's charitable status and yearly accounts are freely available and can also be viewed on the official UK government's official charity site - the Charity Commission:- http://www.charity-commission.gov.uk/registeredcharities/showcharity.asp?remchar=&chyno=1058627 The SBT Welfare's web site is http://www.sbtse.org.uk/ If you have a web site please link to the Welfare's site - in a prominent position - this helps raise the SBT Welfare's profile. Please support the SBT Welfare in any way that you can. Check out the web site for full details. They have goods for sale - please buy some. There are clear and helpful guidelines on how to make a donation. See also the page titled "Fund Raising" for other ways in which you can help. Since the SBT Welfare is a registered charity you can also, if you are a UK resident, take advantage of the "Give As You Earn" facility, which allows your donations to be made tax-free. |
