CAROLINE AND HER 3

 GIRLS

I am Caroline and I live in Nottinghamshire. We have 3 girls, they are 1/2 sisters and are all spayed. Meg is 6 in September and is v dark brindle. She has athritis in her left patella, she is17inches tall and weighs about 35lbs. Tia is dark brindle and is 4. She is 18 inches tall and weighs about 42lbs. Xena is mahogany brindle and is 4 in August. She is 16 inches tall and weighs about 46 lbs. She has an enlarged heart and a narrow oesophagus- when she gets excited she throws up! She will be on medication till she dies.

We started with Meg 6 years ago and when my old cross breed, Jemma died Meg was heart broken and her mum had just had another litter. We love their smiley faces and compact shape, They are easy to keep and have such a mad sence of humour. Their mincey little walk just has to get somewhere fast.

Meg is a loner, she sleeps on her bed til it is time to get up! but she loves playing with other dogs. Though she is top dog there have never been any arguements. Other dogs can just tell.Tia is A mental case and is not happy unless there is a squirrel in a tree! She loves hunting and insists on laying on the sette with hubby. Xena is quite insecure, very clingy but also very vocal and insists on making a right racket to get everyone playing. Meg is just a beautiful name. Tia means Aunty, but is also my favourite drink (maria) and Xena is just a warrior princess! Meg and Xena were very easy to train, Tia a little more difficult. But we try to keep learning fun and use lots of treats and patience. We make lots of fuss when they do things right and ignore them if they do something wrong. Xena was naughty to house train but she has medication which fills her bladder quickly, so we have to give her access to the garden perminantly. You know if the training has gone on too long if your dog looks like it is about to cry!!!!! Keep it short and sweet. Our dogs are fed Wagg and a bit of what ever we leave! They love chicken and they have Chews and gum bars to help clean their teeth. They like having their teeth cleaned by hand though.

We live near Sherwood forest and have access to 3000 square acres of woods so they get free running every day. Their recall is good and they help us see an awful lot of wild life. We also take them to the beach and they love Derbyshire and Staffordshire for Camping. We bought a tent that they can have their air beds in and we bought a discovery to take them out in - very spoilt madams.

We do not show or breed our dogs, We did what a lot of people do and bought from a BYB and we kept feeling sorry for them so we got the other 2 from there too, they do have pedigrees but are not KC registered. As you can tell from their description they are not exactly standard. I will say that people who do not know the Staff cannot begin to understand how infectious they are. And despite what the majority think They are fun, kind and very loving dogs who can do just about any thing any other breed can do- only they look like they enjoy doing it.

Our dog's get on very well with all our pets, 4 ferrets, 7 guinea pigs, an aviary full of finches, 1 bearded dragon and 2 harris hawks. We have never had to tell them off for attacking any animal. Meg even brought us a baby swift in one year that had fallen into the avairy wire. If she hadn't found it Next doors cat surely would have!

I love this breed with all my heart. I think the site seems nice and friendly, which makes a change. All the other groups.  I've joined are full of people with very bad attitudes, which will eventually come down on the dog.

 all the best from,

Caroline, Meg, Tia and Xena.xxxx
