Is He Lethal Checklist
 
You should be advised that the presence of these indicators may mean your mate is planning to kill you. Do not ever say, " It cannot happen to me." You can become a victim of homicide in a domestic abuse incident! This means you must take immediate action to protect yourself!
 
You should contact local battered woman program to further assess if he is lethal and develop a good safety plan. If you cannot get local assistance...contact. SAFE 1-800-799-7233. It is a 24 hour hotline with trained counselors for immediate crisis intervention assistance.
 
Some abusers are more likely to kill than others. The greater the number of items checked, the greater the risk; the greater intensity of each item, the greater the likelihood of a life threatening attack. Remember that the past acts of violence are not an accurate as predictor of future violence. Violence increases and gets worse.
 
1. He has threatened to kill himself, or you or the children, or your relatives. This is considered to be an extremely dangerous situation.
 
2. He has said something to you in the order of, "You die before we divorce," or "You are mine and I will not let anyone else have you."
 
3. He has access to weapons.

4. There have been frequent physical assaults against you.

5. There have been frequent and severe incidents of sexual abuse towards you.

6. The batterer has seriously injured you.

7. He takes hostage of you. Warning! This is super dangerous situation there is a great chance of homicide.

8. He makes threats against the children.

9. The abuser has history of criminal violence.

10. He uses drugs or alcohol to the point of extreme intoxication.

11. He is severely depressed, seeing little hope.

12. You have separated from your abuser. He says he cannot envision life without you or the separation causes him great despair or rage.

13. Suicidal threats, attempts, or plans.

14. He has acted out part of the homicide or suicide fantasy, he may be totally invested in killing as a viable solution to his problems.

15. If he idolizes you, or heavily depends on you to organize, and keep his life together, and/or he has no friends but you.

16. He has access to you at any time; he knows where he can find you.

17. If you have made prior calls to the police, the more calls you make the greater the risk. This includes the calls you should have made but did not for fear of being killed or hurt further.

18. He does not care if he gets arrested, is not scared of going to jail, or of the police, and does not care how he looks to the public.

19. He has explosive temper and is violent outside the home.

20. He has psychological or psychiatric disorders.

21. He is obsessively jealous.

This list may be used for public distribution..in order to help those in need. This Checklist was based on the fact that 97% of all Domestic Abuse Cases are Women.
