| I am by no means a "handy man". I will not attempt to fix my own TV unless I know it is so badly damaged that I can't hurt anything and even then I may think twice about it. Once when I was living in my 1st apartment an old microwave I had gotten from someone (I think it was my parents but that's irrelevant to the story and I don't' want to get sidetracked on the insignificant details. i hate when people get side tracked and you want to hear the story but they rattle on about other things until you start to tune them out and wind up missing all the good stuff) OK WAKE UP and I'll get back to the microwave. It finally died so I figured What the heck, I'll pull the back off and see if i can figure it out. Well I saw a fuse that looked blown so I tried pulling it out. It was tight so i figured a screwdriver would help pry it out. Well there's some kind of electrical thing called a capacitor (maybe?).. Anyway this big coil can evidently hold a charge even when the microwave has been unplugged for a couple days evidently. A rather large charge I might add. Well anyway after I picked myself up off the floor. The shock threw me back I thought Wow that hurt maybe I shouldn't use the screwdriver. So then I reached in with my hand and guess what. My hand hit that and evidently it can hold 2 large charges for quite some time. After coming to my senses a second time I decided then and there that I would stick to computers and leave other electronics to the other guys. Anyway, my point is I am not some super jack of all trades. I grew up watching my dad build stuff and watching Norm and Bob and all those great how-to gurus. I have finished off my basement and built and/or designed most of the wood furniture in my house. I'm no gardener either but I also do a good bit of landscaping. I build the beds help pick put of the plants and then leave the rest to my wife. She likes the gardening but hates the landscaping. Anyway, This page is a chance for me to brag on projects around the house, dispense advice, share some knowledge, ...
