Druidry 101

MM to all,
It is our goal in the Druid Grove to make being in a community, a good experience, and also a learning experience.   In this light, I would like to offer a general over view of Druidry, so all who are in the community have access to learning, and understanding.
Well to begin I would like to start on when the Druids were around, (hard subject), no one knows for sure when Druidry was first founded or where, however, we do know that they were concentrated in Europe, specifically the British Isles.
Druids believed in peace, but they held strong to the belief in the neccesity of both good and evil, because through that it gives everything a purpose.
Druidry slowly started to dwindle after the coming of Christ, many converted, and since Druids were priests and wouldnt fight, alot were thought to be evil because of their secerecy and were killed by enemies.
Druids, (in the days of old), had alot of titles, they were lawmakers, judges, ceremony leaders, just to name a few, and had alot of power and persuasion in the celtic nation.
They were not big fans of the written word for thier spiritual beliefs, however they did have places of learning where people could go to learn, one thing I found interesting was that their books were leaves stitched together side by side, so the whole book would just unfold.
Druidry consists of three steps, Bard, Ovate, and Druid, which in alot of cases, to become a full fledged Druid took almost twenty years, so obviously it took up a big portion of their life, through that time they would have a mentor, and would study diligently, and get to know the natural order of the world.
Druidry, in many respects is similar to native american shamanism, they had an immense respect for nature, and loved their mother ( the earth) dearly.
Druids believed that every one of us had to live a lifetime as every organism on this earth, and that if you lived that particular life the way you should, you would proceed into the next life, and that being human was the last step before attaining godhood.  But there was no back tracking, if one didnt live the way they should, once they died, they just had to re do that particular life.
Well I hope this gives everyone a better understanding of Druidry.
