~*Ritual to Find a Magickal Name*~
First, center yourself. Take a purification bath (described below). Burn some pleasant smelling incense, preferably lotus or sandalwood. Put on some nice, relaxing music. Sit in a comfortable seat, and relax fully. Taking pen and paper in hand, find our your birth number.
Suppose your birthday is October 24, 1964.
10/24/1964 = 1 + 0 + 2 + 4 + 1 + 9 + 6 + 4 = 27
2 + 7 = 9
9 is your Birth Number.
Meditate on an appropriate name for yourself. Do this while looking into a mirror, on a black cloth, with a candle burning on each side. A Scrying Mirror is perfect for this exercise, but an ordinary mirror will do. When you have a good name for yourself, reduce it to a number by using the following table:

So, the name Zoe McClure would reduce to the following:
8 + 6 + 5 + 4 + 3 + 3 + 3 + 3 + 9 + 5 = 49

4 is your Magickal Name Number.
Not a perfect match (in this case). Try to find something that matches exactly. This allows your magickal self to be grounded with the astrological influences at the day of your birth.

Purification Ritual
Take a purification bath on the evening of the ritual. Burn pleasant smelling incense, preferably Lavendar, Pine, Lemon or Frankincense. Stand either skyclad or robed facing the smoke from the incense and close your eyes. Visualize a doorway consisting of white light exactly where the incense is located. Step through the doorway (actually through the incense smoke), envisioning yourself purified and cleansed by the beautiful light and smoke. Sprinkle yourself with a salt water mixture afterwards. Immediately afterwards drink a glass of crystal clear cold water.

Purification Bath
Ingredients Needed:
7 parts Dried Rosemary
7 parts Dried Lavender
4 and 1/2 parts Dried Basil
2 parts Dried Vervain or Lemon Verbana
1 part Dried Hyssop
1 part Dried Valerian
1/2 part Dried Sage
1/2 part Dried Fennel
To this, add half again as much sea or table salt. Tie up a handful of the mixture in a small muslin or cheesecloth bag, cast it into water of a drawn hot bath, saying:
"So therefore he who would govern the works of fire must first asperge with water of the loud, resounding sea."
Also, you may use either Hyssop and salt or Sweet Balm and salt to an almost equal effect.
