In October of 1998, I was asked to participate with a group of pagans performing a Samhain Ritual for a  Unitarian Universalist  Church.  We chose to do a Ritual that would honor all those who had died during The Burning Times. Though many who died during this time were not Witches, we claimed them since they were murdered in the name of Witchcraft. My part was, to write and do the Elemental calls.  I made the decision to reclaim the Elements that had been used againest our sisters and brothers.

East/Air- Element of Air we invoke you.  On this night we remember how your sacred powers were turned against our sisters and brothers, their words were twisted, their breath stolen thru strangulation and hanging.  This night we reclaim your sacred powers; we reclaim clear thought and the breath of life.

South/Fire- Element of Fire we invoke you.  On this night we remember how your sacred powers were turned against our sisters and brothers, their passions became tools of torment, the spark of Divinity was stolen through burning them at the stake.  This night we reclaim your sacred powers; we reclaim passion and the spark of Divinity.

West/Water- Element of Water we invoke you.  On this night we remember how your sacred powers were turned against our sisters and brothers.  The joy of laughter became taunts of cruelty; their flow of life was stolen through drowning.  This night we reclaim your sacred powers; we reclaim laughter and flow of life.

North/Earth- Element of Earth we invoke you.  On this night we remember how your sacred powers were turned against our sisters and brothers.  They were stripped of all their possessions; they were isolated and distanced through stoning. This night we reclaim your sacred powers; we reclaim abundance and our connection to the earth.

Spirit/Ancestors-Ancestors we call to you this night and invite you within our circle.  We wish to honor you, for without you and your deeds we would not be. We look to you for guidance and knowledge.  We welcome you into our circle.
