This book has very consise and well-written correspondance tables between faiths, for those eclectic magicians out there, and glossaries of terms, archetypes and magical models. This book does not read like a technical manual, like some, but flows nicely between chapters, and his own instructions are entertaining and refreshing. It can be a great tool for either Shaman or Hermetic magic. The Mists of Avalon, by Marion Zimmer Bradley The New Magus, by Donald Tyson ©1954 Llewellyn Publications A wonderful source book on Ritual Magic. Tyson's style is very easy to grasp while retaining the immense amount of knowledge that needs to be conveyed so that this book can be a companion throughout your lifetime of study. He takes you step by step through all the knowledge of the various symbols and the magical theory behind them. This is very concentrated information. So you can look at one symbol a day and not feel that you're denying yourself anything. In the second part he continues with actual magical practice from Initiation to Invocation, Evocation, God-forms, and Weapons. He admits that not all will agree with him on every point and that since magic is a true journey of the self that will lead you in very personal directions you will, of course, find your own path. Not many systems can say the same. Recommended for anyone interested in working with the world at large, as well as anyone looking for an alternative to native american shamanism since many of those groups tend to hide their knowledge, whereas Dr. King feels that there is nothing lost in presenting all his knowledge to anyone, and everyone as he explains in his book.
