TALISMAN THE CRAFTING
This is a area of much interest to me for talismans are present in our every day lives and in all the things around us just as passion is. Every belief sytem, race, and even our thoughts are filled with them. In pagan belief the five pointed star with a circle around it is a powerful talisman, the christians have their cross, and if you think about it I'm sure you'll find at at least ten other in each religion.
I will first breifly talk about the different forms that a talisman has when it comes into contact with our lives, then I will tell you my sytem of creafting talismans as I do it. But always remember that the gods and goddess love the constant ability that our minds have to take from one method and change it a bit so as to personalize it, and it is in this way the magik we work with in all it's forms becomes stronger and more powerful.
Above I said all beliefs have their talismans such as the pentagram and cross but their are thousands more some of which we do not readly notice unless with look for them. Even those who might not have a faith sytem have their own talisams and though it is not blessed by a god that does not mean that it is at all weaker than one which is. Artist look at a paint brush or a pencil as a talisam of sorts that helps them create their breath-taking works of art. A police officer with his badge bright for all to see is this not also a talisman that gives them the power of man's law behind their actions, a judge to has a talisman which is present in every courtroom, his hammer/gavel which grants him the power of command over those he will judge.
A talisman in it's basic form is any object or design that we grant a power to or beleive will gives us power. Weather it is for luck, prosperity, protection, or health if we beleive it will help us in one way or another we grant it power to do so. A rabits foot for luck, a four leaf cover or a horse shoe hung over a door way as no power on it's own until we beleive it will grant us luck. Which is really funny to me for those these things are not as rare as one may think we see them all the time but over the years (it could have began with just one men/women) we have trusted in them our well being. A piece of paper folded in a prosific way, though we know it holds no life of it's own for as soon as the tree was cut for it the life left it, but the engerys put into it by us though crafting and pure and simple the belief it will perform a certain way.
A talisman is a simple object nothing more nothing less until we start to bleive in it and then it becomes some thng so much more. Now that I gave you the basic of discription of what a talisman is I will now tell you of my method of creation. There are many ways to enchance it's power but the one thing to always rember is you have to believe in it, believe in what you are creating or all your work will be for not, so as a added extra place some thing in it that is personal to you. Like if you are pagan add runes, christian add a cross, a beliver in luck a four leaf clover, and if you are non of these thing add a zodic sign or element which to all of us they are some thing well see all the time but yet they hold mystery to us.
First you must think of what you want this talisman to be used for, because I can't read your minds as you read this I will start with a luck talisman, which we all can use more of. In many beliefs we see the color green as a lucky color so get some thing green. I perfer a green stone in the shape of a circle because the circle represents the coming back and wholness of of life. Now that we have the basic item in hand we are ready to start.
ITEMS OF CREATION
a green stone circle a X made of wood (darker the better)
leather cord green candle
a silver paint pen
THE CRAFTING
First you have to clear all the engeries that surround each object and tools also that is important. To do so I prefer to leave them by running water during a full moon ( a steam or river is good but if you cant do this use a sink or fountain). Now that you have do this the next step is to ready all the objects to exept the engeries you will put into them. First meditate ( in what ever form you choice) them take each item in your right hand ( or your own power hand) reach into the item and feel it, pull at all the engeris you feel there surround them with the white light of purity and make them leave the object. Then in your minds eye cover the item with all the colors of the rainbow so that it may welcome any blessing you will put to it but do not place those colors into it just bath it in them. Now as I said the color green is know for luck and it is this color we shall imprint upon the items, bath them in it allow the arau of green to sink into it and think of all the thing of luck you can while doing this. When you have done this to your satisfaction place a sealing silver color around it to hold the engeries within it.
We are now ready for the next step which as more rules to it. I remind you that create your own method if mine does not seem fit to you. On a saturday during the waxing of the moon we shall start it's making. Saturday being the day of luck magik and the wanning of the moon for creation magik. I prefer to face north which is the direction of the element of earth (for growth) place you items before you and light your green candle. So by it's light and that of the moon's you shall see plenty. Pass each item through the flame to again enhance the engeries ( be carefull with the wooden X please no need to start a fire). Take up the stone circle and wooden X and using the leather cord bind them together so they can not fall apart otherwise why are we doing this. The X is the rune Gifu which is a luck rune and which bares onto one the power of gifts. The extra cord can be used to make this talisman into a necklace for you should wear this or kept it always with you if you want it to work. With the paint pen write onto it other runes which will be of your choosing, just dont over do it ok, a few will be just fine.
The talisman is all most done now. You can bless it any way you want, call on what ever gods you want. I do believe that you should hold it close in your left hand (your hand of heart) and again think of the many things of luck, let some of you to slip into this talisman giving it life and direction for what it was ment. Say out loud what it is to be used for (or who). Pass it again through the candle to seal it's new life and magik. Thank all that you have invoked in it creation, and blow out the candle. Take up the candle and pour the hot wax into the new born talisman and place it some where that has been blessed or is clean for a few days. Carefully scrap off the wax after the time has passed and place the dry wax into to the earth at the base of a tree.
Now this was just as I said. It's simple as you want it to be, for some as may self I crave into the stone and suder the items together but not all can do this so do what feels right. ALWAYS rember the three fold law when making talismans for to do otherwise is asking for trouble.
