A History of Reiki
Dr. Mikao Usui was born in Japan in the mid-nineteenth century. As he was growing up, he heard stories about Buddha. Buddha was said to be able to heal physical illnesses and that many of his disciples acquired healing abilities by following his teachings.
Dr. Usui looked at the people around him and saw that there were many who could not lead productive or happy lives because they were sick or had disabilities. Feeling compassion for them, he wondered if it would be possible for him to acquire the same healing abilities as the Buddha had done.
After pondering this for some time, he came to the conclusion that if this kind of healing were possible in the past that it must still be possible and he was determined to learn its secrets. With this in mind, he set out on a quest, determined to learn the secrets of healing so that he might help others.
