Vodou is characterised by ceremony, music, dance, and sacrifice in which the followers commune with the spirits of their ancestors via divine possession. It was born in the west and central Africa but now flourishes in Haiti and on the island of Hispaniola. Vodou is not a religion to be feared upon, but a deeply spiritual religion filled with unique spirits.
The universe is a magical cosmos and every man are potential magicians. Sorcery is said to be magic manipulated for personal gain or bbad intent, this is acknowledge but many do not practise it and are usually quick to disassociate themselves from any connection with it.
The Zombi- a person who has appeared to die and have been dug up and brought back to life some days later but with no will. A poison is said to induce a coma that is indistinguishable from death, but once an antidote is administered, the body appears to be brought back. The people of Haiti often shoot or strangle the corpse of a person who died suspiciously to save it from enslavement, this fear is the heart of the zombi mythology.
