Wicca, or Witchcraft is a is an earth based religion, focused on raising ones individual spirituality. The religion concentrates on raising your inner power and using it to help yourself and others. Wicca involves the use of Magick, from yourself and other things to help along the way, including the four elements, Earth, Fire, Water, and Air.
So what exactly does a witch do? Witches practice rites and rituals to help ourselves through bad times, to heal, to send out love and try to do their best to make the world a better place. Witches also celebrate and give thanks to the the Lord, Lady and spirit through their practises.
Who are the Lord, Lady and Spirit?
Wiccans see ‘God’ with two faces: female (Lady) and the male (Lord). Neither side is valued above the other, and together, these two sides mix to create the whole of God. The Lord and Lady, aka God and Goddess themselves are seen with many different faces, and are called upon for their different powers.
Spirit is the overall energy that runs the universe in a harmonious way. Spirit is the creator of all, including the Lord and Lady. To become a witch is to dedicate oneself to and honour Spirit and its creations.
What happens to Witches when they die?
Witches believe that when it is their time, they shall enter the Summerland, this is where souls go after death to celebrate afterlife and to continue their magickal education, until it is their time to reincarnate and are sent back to Earth to serve our brothers and sisters. In each lifetime, Spirits guide us through learning experiences; preparing us for our individual missions. Memories of our past lives often surface during our studies of the Craft.
