Three (More) Fools On Wheels

By

Tom Tollefson

Toronto, Canada

Having been into Land Rovers a great many years now, owning a series 1 has always been somewhere on my list of things to do. I had been the owner of a 55,86 and a 1950, 80" in the past, but both vehicles were in need of major repair work and I eventually gave them away to the needy. This spring (2003) I discovered the "Garage" and with it the list of books dealing with Series 1 adventures.

Through http://www.bookfinder.com/ I managed to obtain copies of most of the titles listed and read them cover to cover. Thus , put into the right"spirit" by Barbara Toy, Captain Townsend and the Oxford/Cambridge gang I started browsing LRX adds for a suitable specimen particularly looking for vehicles as far away as possible in an effort to combine a possible acquisition with my incessant desire to travel.

So when all the stars were in proper alignment I managed to make the purchase of Mark Pilkingtons fine steed and the rest is ,as they say, history.

Needless to say when my friend and fellow roadrunner Perry heard of my plans there was no stopping him,and young Mike, there is no better way to broaden one's horizons.

Thus we embarked on our little adventure:
