An ABC promo for the episode "I'm nobody, who are You?"
We've been talking about the famous scene between and Hope and Susannah, and the dialogue that was changed in the LIFETIME version. I don't know why I never thought of this before, but the book, "thirtysomething stories", published in 1991, has nine scripts from show. One of them is "I'm nobody, who are you?". The entire scene is as follows, and yes, it was changed in the LIFETIME version. When Hope originally answered Susannah's remark about the "right size", LIFETIME changed her response with a voice over from her original response "it's just the right size" to something nondescript. Censorship back then...<G>
SCENE: I'm nobody who are you? INT. Steadman bathroom - DAY
Susannah soaks dreamily in the tub. Hope enters the bathroom and hands Susannah a glass of wine.
Susannah: You know why they had that argument, don't you? Michael and Gary? (she takes a sip of wine). Fear of smallness.
Hope: Exactly.
Susannah: And the thing is - you can tell them it's just the right size, over and over. They never really believe you..
A silence then:
Hope: (mischievously): So it's just the right size....?
Susannah grins, and splashes water in Hope's direction.
