Below are a few notes I have taken at PRO, Kew from the Ecclesiastical Census return of 30th March 1851. The figure shown under found. is the year chapel was notified as founded (where b1800 appears this meant 'before 1800'). The figures shown in morn/aft/even are adults (first line), Sunday school attendees (second line) and Total in bold (third line).
All the churches listed are in the Greystoke Parish (apart from the Society of Friends meeting house in adjoining Caldbeck Parish) part of the census return of Penrith, Cumberland PRO reference is HO 129/565. Apart from informants there are no names mentioned in census.
It is quite noticeable how much Wesleyan Methodism had taken a grip even though most chapels were only a few years old.
