Pearls of Pan From The TNPanMan
Hand #3: Two Bong Dream
Our Hand: 2H 3S 3S 3C 4C 4D 4D 5S 5S 5C
We are dealt this beauty of a hand with 9 working cards and two possible pays which are two bongs in the making! We have a total of 5 players in the hand which means 4 payers. A 3S is thrown to me at my turn, I grab it with lust in my heart and say, "Four please," and meld the three 3 of Spades and then I discard the 2H. I hold back the 3C since it doesn't pay me anything more, so why show the table how flat I am? So I have now:
In My Hand:
3C 4C 4D 4D 5S 5S 5C
On My Board:
3S 3S 3S
The game now progresses and I pluck another 3S on my turn and grin like a Cheshire cat and call for two more chips from the players and add that 3S to my meld on board. I discard one of the fours -- the 4D, since it is easier to catch a 4S or 4H, instead of just one 4D (there are only six more 4D's left). So I have now:
In My Hand:
3C 4C 4D 5S 5S 5C
On My Board:
3S 3S 3S 3S
Our next pluck is a 5S -- we first pee our pants and call out with glee, "Four please." Everyone at the table is very agitated and groan with pain. Now what shall I discard? If you said the 4D, you are correct. We keep the 4C because it plays to the board; in fact, the 4C works as 3C 4C and 5C in our hand. So we now have:
In My Hand:
3C 4C 5C
On Board We Have:
3S 3S 3S 3S 5S 5S 5S
We are also flat in our hand; do you see it? Just one more card is all we need and if we hit it, we will put out a really BIG hand! Well Lady Luck shines on us and we hit a 5S -- and bust out really good! We shout out in ecstasy, "I am out with a good one!" and add the 5S to my meld and then meld the 3C 4C 5C and go out. Here is what our board looks like:
3S 3S 3S 3S
5S 5S 5S 5S
3C 4C 5C
So lets calculate our hand:
3S 3S 3S 3S....................................................6 Chips
5S 5S 5S 5S
(4 Chips plus double the two more for the 5S for going out = 8)
.........................................................................8 Chips
3C 4C 5C........................................................0 Chips
Going Out..........................................................2 Chips
TOTAL = 16 Chips
There are 4 payers, so we receive:
4 payers X 16.....................................................................64 Chips
We also collected during play:
3S 3S 3S 3S (6 pay x 4 payers) = 24 Chips
5S 5S 5S (4 pay X 4 payers) = 16 Chips
TOTAL.............................................................................40 Chips
We paid out during the play of the hand 4 chips.....................-4 Chips
We collected 5 antes for going out
(7 Tops minus two chips taken by house for collection)...........5 Chips
WE MADE A PROFIT TOTAL OF..................................105 Chips
