salix alba (LINN.)
salix
Salicaceae

AKA
European Willow
White Willow Bark

PART USED
Bark

Constituents
The bark contains up to 13 per cent of tannin
as its chief constituent, a small quantity of salicin.

Medicinal Action and Uses
tonic
analgestic
antiperiodic
astringent

It has been used in dyspepsia connected
with debility of the digestive organs.

In convalescence from acute diseases, in worms,
in chronic diarrhoea and dysentery, its
tonic and astringent combination renders it very useful.

(NOTE from Myssah's BOS: Willow Bark has
properties similar to Asprin and was used
before Asprin and Quinine. Great for headaches,
toothaches, and minor muscle pain.)

Reduces pain, swelling and fever,
good anti-inflammatory, and helps insomnia.
