OUR FINAL NOTICE!

Wednesday, March 1, 2006

ADOPT A PET ASAP is down to the bare bones in a serious situation that may close it's services forever. To bring things into perspective this is an update to our predicament.

Enduring the 2004 - 2005 hurricanes was bad enough but not enough that we couldn't recover over time. But in the last nine months my daughter and I had to go 600 mi... out of state to SC and spend that time tending to my 85 yr.. ailing mom in an emergency. During that time my husband was managing the rescue for me back in FL.  Since it was decided that my mom would live with me, our plan was to relocate to MO where we would be out of much of the Southern Climate and more central to family members. With the expanded land I was confident I could better operate my rescue more efficiently. Our only hold up is finding a way to temporarily secure the animals and get some volunteer help so that my husband and I can spend a week to two weeks looking at and securing property in MO. Obtaining a trailer that can be modified and converted into a portable rescue transport would be the perfect temporary solution as we can place it in a supervised, safe and secure location. Our own diligence perseveres as caring advocates for the animals in need. However we understand that these last two yr's have been trying for everyone financially. Since we have received but only a single response to our expansion fund raising efforts I am now at a crossroads. In the last few weeks.  I was again visited with another setback. My husband suffered a life threatening heart attack while caring for the rescue on Sunday, February 12, 2006 and it was necessary for me to fly back to FL to be with him. Now he is on the mend and it is with certainty that he will return to SC with me very soon. From there will continue our move to MO. Since most Rescues in the Southeast have their hands full and the publics response has not been forthcoming. I may have no choice but to surrender all my animals to a local kill shelter and it is a sure bet most will be put to sleep. This is not the recourse I would prefer but unfortunately I do not have super human capabilities and must make a profound and rational, heart wrenching decision.

My Husband made a promise to a cat called Kocoa that because of her own trauma and personal loss she will live out the rest of her natural life no matter what! He takes his pledge seriously and is willing to stay it alone untill all the animals are safely secured or in foster care while I return to SC.

UPDATE: Monday,March 6, 2005

I have returned reluctantly to SC at my husband insistance. The plan is now that while he awaits to see his doctor for a followup and update his meds he will try to find fosters by no later then Sunday, March 12, 2006. Or if we get a trailer to set up as a temp shelter and find volunteers to come on a daily basis to care for the animals. By Monday, March 13, 2006 if we do not find a resolve we will have to turn the Animals over to a kill shelter.

UPDATE: Thursday, March 16, 2006

Monday has passed and we are at a standstill! What I know is that we work for you in providing our service out of our deep compassion for the Animals. Please show us you care by your generosity and support. Help keep ADOPT A PET A.S.A.P. in operation. If we ultimately surrender our remaining animals into a kill shelter, we will close our rescue operation down forever. There is no time like now please everyone join in this effort.

UPDATE: Sunday, March 19, 2006

We have now found a foster for all the birds in our care, but are still desperate to either find homes or fosters for our remaining Cats and Ferrets. I urgently need your help! Please for the Animals sake show that you care. The cats in my rescue are loving and affectionate and do not deserve to die an untimely death. They all have their own unique personality. They all love to have human contact and nuzzle in you lap or rub noses. They all would make wonderful companion pets in the right home or to a caring pet lover. So please give them your consideration. We will waive the usual adoption fee if you are a qualified canidate to adopt. It is now final that the Animals will have to be vacated from my residence no later then Saturday, March 25, 2006.

UPDATE: THURSDAY, March 30, 2006
