Bieber has a medical Center with doctor and dentist, Mayers Memorial Hospital 20 miles to the West State certified. Adin and Bieber have small airports. Big Valley has a variety of churches. Schools rank favorably, preschool, elementary, intermediate and high school with a Lassen College outreach center in Bieber.

INDUSTRY AND AGRICULTURE

Alfalfa hay is Big Valley's major agricultural crop, in addition grass and grain hay are grown. Their high mountain quality is second to none. Several thousand heads of fine cattle and sheep are pastured here year round. The Big Valley Fall River Cattlemen’s Association and Intermountain Cattlemen are active
community organizations that help promote the industry.
A relatively new crop to Big Valley, grown along the river, is exotic wild rice. Fertile soil and ideal growing climate makes growing wild rice a more important crop in the area. Potatoes are also produced here for seed and consumer markets. Christmas trees are another of Big Valley's diversified crops.
The wood products, electric power generation (cogeneration), and mining industries make a major contribution to Big Valley's economy. Several sawmills in the Valley produce lumber from raw materials, which come from public and private lands.
A Cogeneration facility produces power for Big Valley Lumber and surplus power is sold to PG&E. Other cogeneration facilities are planned and under construction.
Our newest industry in the valley is a wood cabinet shop, where two local boys came back home to use their skills and manufacture cabinets and furniture.
