Faeries Welcome to my page on the Fae. While they aren’t a large part of my religous practice, I do find them popping up from time to time to say hello. Besides, who can resist the charm and mystery of these ancient beings? From Puck to Tinkerbell, the Myths sprung from their presence haunts even the literature and film of today. We must give respect to the perseverance of the "good people" in our culture.
Faeries aren’t really the little winged sprites that we see in stories, although they can appear that way if the recipient of their visit expects that form. They are actually the spirits of natural things- the elements, trees, flowers, etc.
Here, I will talk about the basic kinds of Faeries and how they make themselves known in magickal workings. This is in no way an extensive covering of the subject, but just some basic info for those who wish to work with these beings.
The Elemental Spirits - Gnomes- These are earth spirits. They help us attune with the planet, recognize and moderate the baser instincts we have, and find joy in all activities
- Undines- These are water spirits. They help us in matters of love, healing, emotion, and the creative spirit (especially in music)
- Sylphs- These are air spirits. They help us sharpen our mind and psychic abilities. They also teach harmony in life, strength of spirit, and poetic writing.
- Salamanders- These are spirits of fire/ They bring passion, transformation, energy, and re-creation from destruction.
Green Faeries (Plant Faeries) - Flower Faeries- These are spirits of the green plants (both flowers and herbs) and give them their magickal energies.
- Wood Nymphs (Tree spirits)- These Fae dwell in trees and give their magickal energies to both the wood, leaves, and fruit of their homes.
Music of the Faeries (To attract Faeries) - Gnomes love drums, bells, and any rhythm instrument
- Undines love singing, stringed instruments, and chimes
- Sylphs love flutes, pan-pipes, and just about any wind instrument. They also like wind chimes.
- Salamanders like harps, lyres, and fiddles.
