Experiment and try new things. There is no one right way to do it. If you dont have incense but you have oil trying burning a bit of the oil in the candle wax, just a drop will do. Try using a wand to cast your circle. Make your own cloak and clothing for rituals. Read books, research, take lessons online. Study,study,study!
If I can pass on one thing through these lessons it would be this: knowledge is power. People only fear what they do not understand. So never stop learning. Teach if you can for in the process of teaching you reaffirm what you have learned yourself.
