COMMUNITY  ELDERS WISE WORDS
From: Bob  (Original Message) Sent: 4/17/2002 12:09 PM
If you ever find yourself in a situation where all you tools and ritual items are not with you or that you have nore, remember this:

: The Earth is my alter
: Moonbeams are my alter cloth
: The sky is my robes
: The stars are my candles
: The air is my incense
: My hands are my athema
: My mind is my book of shadows

We as pagan tend to put to much emphasis on what we have learned in the books we read. We "have" to do it like this because so and so wrote it or we have use this thing because i read it in a book.
In my few years as a pagan I have followed many paths and i have read many books. what make sence to me most is following my heart.
I do not hold faith in The Rede. Sometime you must go against your teachings; you must become what others think is wrong.
Yes I do believe in Karma. Yet I do not think it governs everything I do.
Don't say someone is wrong or that they don't know what they are talking about. Forgive the rash words of the young for they are just that, young. Who is to say someone is wrong because you yourself have not experienced it.
I am sick of all the pagans I know who say christianty is worst religion in the world because they dont follow the bible. These are people going by what they have learned. We as pagans must learn to tolerate every religion.
I think every pagan should attent a christian service at least once in their lives. You should feel the power they build in the churches and chaples. Plus it will give you, as pagans, an understanding of how they feel.
Just about every new pagan nowadays wants power. They want to be able to do thing they see others do. I don't knock em for trying but some people spend a lifetime to learn to read the tarot or see auras. If you are new and reading this do not be vexed by not being able to "get it" right away.
I personally have no talent when it comes to reading auras cards or stones. I do however can read people. I did not learn this as a result of wicca or paganism. I learned it in a bar.
As a bartender I learned a lot about people. But still it is not where my talent lies. My talent is Curses and Hexing.
Oh no! did he just say curses and Hexing? Oh sweet Gods That is wrong. Why? I use my abilities only in need.
Do not judge me for these few words I am a nice guy. And yes there are circumstances where curses and hexes are needed.
Well, I have ranted long enough. In parting let me remind you that those books on wicca and paganism you have bought or read are only guides. They are not the only way to go. Ask questions, listen to others and develope yourself into you.

                     PATIENCE

Blessings to you all.Welcome all newbies to the Realm. Look around, feel free to contact me or Dragon if you have any questions or suggestions for our place. For this is our Realm, our place to explore, to share to learn more, move higher, expand outward and upward.

I wish to speak today on one of the hardest lessons to learn.

PATIENCE. There I said it! Patience is a hard lesson to learn. We are always in a hurry, seeking new things, hurrying here, hurrying there. We want and we want it now dangit! This is an instant society now. Any thing we want we could get, and fast! Instant cash, instant potatoes, instant credit! But. (there is always a but) The important things we must wait for. The universe provides us with what we need when we need it or when we are ready! Patience pays off, it truly does, because the lessons we learn while waiting are needed. Some times we must sit back relax and let the universe push, pull or drag us to where we need to be to achieve what we need to achieve. You notice I did not say what we want. I did not because some times what we want most is not what we need at all! Ain't that a bitch, i mean really?

How many times have you seen some one fixate on achieveing one thing wanting one thing so badly they could taste it, crave it, obsess over it. They become lost in it! Oblivious to their world , people, the universe moving around them! They limit themselves not realizing that if they were patient, the big picture would come into focus.Their purpose would be shown to them! But sometimes we get so deep into our thinkin we blind ourselves to the universal truth , our universal truth. We as indiviuals, have destinies, surely not set in stone, but a potential, a mission we could if given a chance, achieve. We all have a mission. Do we see it?

Probably not if we are blinded by a set goal, a fixation on some thing we want more then something we need.

The hardest thing to do is to do NOTHING. To let things fall into place around us, to allow the universe to guide us. To allow control to not be ours! How scarey! BUT, Faith allows us to be able to do this.Faith to say, all is right with the universe, As above, same as below, the universe will provide, I must be patient. I MUST WAIT!

I will be the first to tell you, patience is not my long suit.lol, I am dragon. We are used to reachin for what we want, fightin for it if we must. There is nothing harder to do then to sit and wait. But , I understand that some times our actions cause MORE problems for us, for our mission, muddies the water as it were.Too much action, too much tension dams the flow! Some times the best action is inaction.Sit back ,ease off, let it flow forward, outward upward. The universe will always provide, of that there is no doubt. But do we appreciate what it provides, that is the question? Do we see the purpose, the drive behind it? Let's look. Sit back one day, just let things flow, move no action. Watch the wind blowing the trees, watch the river flow or the tide coming in. Hear the soft song of the birds at dusk. In these things we see patience, flow in it's own time, no hurrying, no daming the flow, measured action or passive in action. Faith provides us the ability to allow the universe to lead us where we need to go, to see what we need to see, to hear some times what we do not want to hear, and finally to get what we truly need. And in the end, I hope when you get it, you will offer thanks and understand how the universe provides for us, and how our action or inaction affects the outcome.

Many blessings of love,

Blue

This is a post from Dragon ladySewy.

I sit here covered in dirt and sweat. My eyes are burning from the sand. My tears have crusted it up so that it sticks to my eyelashes. My face is blistered by the wind. I can feel the dust sticking to me like a thick mud.My back aches. My feet are blistered and cracked. Everytime I lay down my back spasms. Evertime I stand up my feet burn and sting. My boot will not even come off my feet they are so swollen. I havent showered in over a week. The cleanest uniform I own is so sandy I can reach into my pocket and make a sand ball. That is my life.
But you know I have it pretty good. I get 3 meals a day and plenty of water. My tent is large even if I have to share it with one or two not so great roommates. I do have clothes meaning more than the ones I wear on my back. And I will get to come home eventually.
These poor people dont have any of that. And yet All I hear from back home is the same message. Be alert. We dont know what we are looking for but be alert. There could be attacks on our national landmarks. Big flippin whoppee I say. There just buildings. Yes they are symbols of our great nation and our pride etc.etc. But so were the twin towers and somehow I live on. It was a great tragedy that so many lives were lost yes. But no greater than thoses who died on Sept 10th. The fireman who died trying to save lives. The policeman who got shot chasing a robber. Or the mother who died in childbirth. Life is precious. Whether it is the life of a terrorist who has murdered or the life of a newborn baby. Am I unpatriotic? You think I might be? You are wrong. I am probably the most patriotic soul you will ever meet. While you sit at home this coming holiday eating bar-b-que or whatever surrounded by your friends and family, I am out in the middle of the desert trying to help the thousand of people who have been displaced by these barbarians and this war. But I would be here even if I didnt have to be, even if it wasnt required of me by my government. For it is our job as humans to help each other in times of need. It shouldnt matter what nationality, what religion, skin color. People are people and they need our help. These people suffered at the hands of pure animals. The things they have experienced are horrible. Do I agree with all the things they stand for............nope not one actually. But I will not sit by and watch them starve to death either. Just like I wouldnt let someone starve to death at home. Am I concerned that more terrorists will strike? Sure I am. No one wants to wager war, especially thoses who have been in them. But you know life and death is the turn of the wheel. Who is to say when I am to die, no one knows. So why should I live my life in fear of death. No instead I will embrace death for I have lived a good life and i know I have made a difference. Do I have tons of medals and honors? My service jacket looks like a timeless novel of war and peace. But if you took all my medals away I wouldnt cry, because I know what I did in my own heart. Most of all My godess and god know what I do. I have affected lives. People will never forget me even if they cant remember my name. I am the faceless person  known as hope. And where there is hope there is life. Life ebbs and flows through me and many others like me. My name is not important. My job is not important. My legacy is what is important.
On memorial day instead of sittin on yer butt and eating off the grill and watchin movies or going to the park or the beach with the kids......................why dont you spend the day in peaceful reflection of all thoses who have dared to hope for a better tomorrow for us. Those who gave the lives for the chance that their hope would be able to live on in others. Thoses who have suffered in order for our greater good. They dont have to be "heroes" they can be mom n dads n friends n family. Teach your kids the meaning of the holiday. If nothing else then stop for one single minute and give thanks that you hvae what you have, you have hope. That is all man can ask for.
