Funfair is ‘economic sabotage’
CLAIMS that holding a funfair in Blairgowrie could pose a threat to local traders were dismissed by councillors. Members of Perth and Kinross Council’s licensing committee agreed to grant Broxburn-based George Morrison permission to stage his summer event at the town’s Wellmeadow, despite a number of complaints.
Objecting to Mr Morrison’s request for a temporary public entertainment permit, Ian Scorgie, of Blairgowrie Merchants Association, alleged the fair’s presence represented the “economic sabotage” of the area.
