Last nite caught me late reading Saint-Exupery’s The Little Prince.
What a beautiful story, full of lessons and symbolisms.
Towards the end of the story the little prince wants to go back to his planet and he tries to comfort the author instead of being comforted or helped.
As I read ,my heart skipped a beat and tears began to fill my eyes.
it’s as Freddie has spoken himself.
The little prince said:
"all men have the stars… but they are not the same things for different people. For some men, who are travelers, the stars are guides.
For others they are no more than little lights in the sky . For others, who are scholars, they are problems .For my businessman they are wealth. But all these stars are silent.
You – you alone – will have the stars as no one else has them -"
" In one of the stars I shall be living. In one of then I shall be laughing."
"And so it will be as if all the stars were laughing, when you look at the sky at night …
You – only you - will have stars that can laugh!"
"And when your sorrow is comforted, you will be content that you have known me. You will always be my friend. You will want to laugh with me. And you will sometimes open your window, so, for that pleasure… And your friends will be properly astonished to see you laughing as you look up the sky! Then you will say to them ,“Yes, the stars always make me laugh!” And they will think you are crazy. It will be a very shabby trick that I shall have played on you…”
Freddie spirit is in every new comedian. His passion and dedication in the new generation that works their way up being genuine and faithful to their values and roots.
Yes, the stars make me laugh too,
They trace Freddie’s smile.
Their twinkle, his dimples,
Forever in the sky
And in my soul.
