Welcome to Great Dane Bicycles, I'm glad you are here! My name is Kurt Christian Andersen. You’ve probably heard of a distant relative of mine, Hans Christian Andersen. Among other things he was best known for his intricate paper cuttings and childrens' storys. That doesn't do a lot for me... I'm more into making bicycles. When I started riding, my first “real” bike was made out of oversize aluminum. It made sense at the time; light, big tubes, stiff. It felt much faster than my whippy, heavy “beginner” steel bike I’d been riding. After I started riding with a group I noticed most of the experienced riders were riding steel frames. I started hearing terms like SLX, TSX, Prestige, and discussions of the merits of Lugged construction vs. Fillet Brazing. I bought a used FUSO, a Columbus SL frame, and have ridden steel ever since. I like steel bikes...the ride, the looks. They will last and last. Click on "Pictures" on the left and you'll see a few of the frames I've built. If you are interested in an Andersen frame, e me or call 303-875-5677. Thanks for looking. Kurt |
