For unknown reasons, this memorial was removed from the park in the middle of the 2004 season.
The plaque on the memorial read:
SIMON BAMBERGER
Governor Of Utah 1917-1921
Constructed Lake Park Resort in 1886 on the shore of Great Salt Lake - 3 miles S.W. of here. After the lake receded, he drained a large meadow, forming a lagoon along Farmington Creek and moved several of the buildings to the present site.
Lagoon, midway between Ogden and Salt Lake City, was opened on July 13, 1896 and was served by the Bamberger Railroad, which he built. The rails on this monument were used on that railroad.
His foresight and accomplishment have brought pleasure to this area for over a half century.
Erected by his son
Julian M. Bamberger
1963
