Just started your Group? Thinking about starting a group?

Here are some great tips for

getting your group off on the right foot!

So you have your group created and you're read to start or you're still thinking about what you want in a group....
what to do and where to start?

First, get a notebook.

Go around to similar groups and write down some ideas. Do not copy and paste from other groups. Not only is that very rude but it'll get you a bad reputation very fast. People are often in many groups and will recognize other people's pages. Just get some general ideas to work from.

Ask yourself what you want to see? Where do you want your group to go and how large do you think you're going to want to have it?

Do you want the group Public, Public Restricted or Private?

There are pros and cons to each. Pro of having a public site is people sometimes won't join a private site 'site unseen' but sometimes people won't join public groups because they like the safety of privacy and knowing not just anyone can join or see their posts. Public restricted means the public can view your group, but will have to apply to join. A good compromise is often Public Restricted. As you can see that we have done here, the best thing to do is create a few Message Boards so that people will have places to put specific posts.

Where should you list your group?

You should list it in a Category that matches the Topic/Theme of your group. But some list them in other Categories in order to get the "different" colors/styles.

Will your group be rated General, Mature or Adult?

When you create a group, it has you select your rating. Its your responsibility to rate it properly and keep it rated properly if changes are made to your group.  Msn gives you 3 choices... General: Safe for all ages Mature: Not suitable for all audiences Adult: Contains explicit or graphic material (sexually explicit messages, graphics, genitals/breasts showing, sexual content/language) would make your group actually ADULT and not Mature.  Think of your group like a movie. Would you rate it G: G rated... M: Mature things not suitable for kids to see/read... or  A: Adult 18+ only?
Be sure to read MSN's TOU (Terms of Use)
and CoC (Code Of Conduct)

Dont invite people too quickly!!

Give yourself some time to work on the site, build some pages and then invite. If you invite too soon, chances are they wont join and then if you invite them later they'll remember that not much was there.  So wait until you have a little to offer :)
